Boat Damage Reports

What Boat Damage Reports Does

The Boat Damage Reports feature lets the organizing authority track damage to event-owned boats during the regatta and collect damage reports directly from competitors. This is particularly useful for events that supply a fleet of charter or club boats, where tracking the condition of each boat between races is important for managing repairs and liability.

Enabling and Setting Up Event Boats

Enable Boat Damage Reports by editing your event and selecting Boat Damage Reports in Event Settings. Once enabled, two items appear in the Event Panel left menu: Event Boats and Damage Reports.

Before any damage reports can be submitted, you must add the boats that will be used for the event. Click Event Boats and use the Add Boat form to enter each boat — include sail number, bow number, and hull color if color is significant (for example in team racing). Once entered, boats are saved to your account and can be reused at future events by clicking My Boats and selecting from your existing list.

Collecting and Reviewing Damage Reports

Once the event boats are set up, competitors can submit damage reports from the public event pages. Reports can be collected by day, by race, or both — instruct competitors on the method you prefer. If a competitor uses the same boat all day, one report per day is sufficient. If boats change between races, the competitor should specify which races in their report.

The Damage Reports page in the Event Panel shows all submitted reports sorted by date. Officials can also add a damage report directly on behalf of a competitor from this page.
